Hybrid GrindControl 3D and Hybrid 3D - Main Functions
The Hybrid GrindControl 3D device typically includes a Hybrid 3D four-point measuring device and a NC-device based on Windows NT. The old crowning device is replaced with a rapid precision actuator unit. The Hybrid GrindControl 3D NC-device can be installed on any common roll grinding machine (Waldrich, Herkules, Farrel, Safop, Pomini, Voith, Haubold, Toshiba etc.). Several devices have already been delivered.
Measurement functions
CD geometry profiles
- caliper difference profile ('shape'): caliper difference, conicity (alignment), straightness errors
- crown error measurement
- axial runout profile
- realtime display, measures in both directions.
MD geometry profiles
- true out-of-roundness profile (also odd waveforms are measured)
- waveness distribution of roundness (circularity) profile (Fourier spectrum)
- runout curves of sensors
- path of the roll's rotation center (not with the saddle type of measuring frame)
3D geometry measurement
- spiral measurement of the whole roll
- various report formats
Sensor display
Absolute diameter (optional device)
Crack detection (optional device for steel industry)
Grinding methods
CD compensation curves
- compensation of slideway errors (base curve of the machine)
- addition of residual error curves on the base curve (corrects e.g. conicity error caused by bad alignment)
- programmatic crowning and chamfers
- stretching of an extra curve with mouse
MD compensation curves
- compensation of roundness errors generated without control (roll bearing errors)
- compensation of residual roundness errors
- addition of non-circular MD-profile (optional)
- Hybrid DynaTest™ interface (optional)
3D compensation curve
The program calculates a 3D tool path automatically from the MD and CD profiles. A servo controlled precision machining unit (U-axis) controls the machining depth as a function of C-axis (roll rotation) and Z-axis (carriage).
Reports
- graphical scanning and deleting of old measurements
- printing of measuring reports
- measurements and roll data are stored in a database
- Ethernet interface
